GROOMING

The Miniature Schnauzer is a unique and handsome animal, but to maintain the appropriate appearance it takes professional grooming.  Jerry Simpson Jr has been grooming miniature schnauzers for AKC sanctioned shows, and for pet owners for many years.  He maintains my dogs in tip top shape and he can do the same for you.  His grooming fees are as follows:

COMPLETE GROOMING .....................................................$ 75.00
(EXTRA FEE FOR EXTREME MATTING)
STRIPPING OF DOG ...........................................................$150.00
NAIL CLIPPING .....................................................................$ 10.00
ORAL HYGIENE ....................................................................$ 30.00

Grooming of the miniature schnauzer is an important part of the breed and the timeless classic look of the miniature schnauzer. The American Miniature Schnauzer Club has completed a grooming chart that you or your groomer should go by when grooming your own miniature schnauzer.

The first tool that you will need to groom your miniature schnauzer include a greyhound comb,I like the 7 1/2 inch fine/coarse tooth comb.

The next tools that you will need will be your brushes. I like the Chris Systems 20mm pin brush and the small head 2" x 3 1/2" slicker brush.

You will also need a good pair of grooming shears. My personal favorite is the Chris Systems Original Series - SATURN - Light Weight High Performance 10" shear.

Nail clippers should also be in your tool box. I think that the pliers type work best. PetEdge offers nail clippers at a reasonble price.

For pet grooming the final item you will need is a good pair of clippers and blades. I recommend either the :
                                               Oster A5 clipper

                                                        or the

Andis Super AGR+ Vet Pack Cordless Clipper Kit

The blades that you will need would be a size 10 for the majority of the grooming and a size 40 blade for the ears, belly and genital area.

For show grooming you will need to own a good stripping knife, and a stripping stone for when the hair comes in.

There is an excellent grooming video that one of my friends, and professional miniature schnauzer handler has completed, to help you or your groomer learn how to groom your schnauzer the correct way.
