Welcome to Reberstein's Miniature Schnauzer web site. I have been a breeder and exhibitor of quality miniature schnauzers for over 12 years. I was first introduced to the miniature schnauzer as a young child and have been in love with this breed ever since. I am indeed an animal lover but no other animal has touched my heart and soul as the miniature schnauzer has. The miniature schnauzer has qualities and characteristics that no other breed possesses. They have a loyal spirit, very affectionate, intelligent, playful, healthy, robust, good with children and other breeds, very trainable, easily distinguished from other breeds, and very attractive. Unfortunately, many breeders of the miniature schnauzer are trying to change several characteristics of this breed such as general appearance, size, proportion, substance, color and temperament. Reputable and responsible breeders strictly adhere to the breed standard as outlined by theAmerican Miniature Schnauzer Club and The American Kennel Club. The breed standard is what makes a schnauzer a schnauzer and distinguishes this breed from other breeds. One of the leading misconceptions about the miniature schnauzer is that the smaller the dog the better. Many breeders are labeling these undersized dogs as teacups and toy schnauzers which quite frankly is laughable and disheartening. An undersized and underweight miniature schnauzer is NOT a desirable characteristic to be passed along to the offspring of this breed. The breed standard states that a proper miniature schnauzer should be 12 to 14 inches in height at the withers. The standard also states the miniature schnauzer should be robust and NOT have any suggestion of toyishness Many breeders also try to pass off unacceptable colors of the miniature schnauzer such as; white, chocolate, liver, and parti colors. The only 3 acceptable colors are; black, black and silver, and salt and pepper. Once again this is outlined in the breed standard. A breeder who disregards the breed standard is compromising the gene pool and the integrity of the miniature schnauzer breed. A reputable and responsible breeder will produce puppies that compliment not contradict the breed standard. MINIATURE SCHNAUZERS
